Jeff,
Considering the plain and simple fact that there were dozens of violent outbursts around the world in response to the video in question I would naturally assume that the guy was referencing the dozens of violent outbursts around the world...Again it would seem logical in consideration of the world wide violence attributed to that video to assume Benghazi was in response to the video like the other attacks.

ON a day filled with many violent protests and attacks on American diplomatic interests around the world , the administration spokesperson amidst the global chaos, incomplete and conflicting information and panic speculated that the violence and attack on an American diplomatic interest in Benghazi was of a similar nature to the violence and attacks on American diplomatic interests in other portions of the world and then , as the facts came to light after further investigation , reported their original speculation was mistaken and reported the facts as they discovered them .

So , yeah , they did a rather poor job of understanding exactly what set these particular murderous idiots off in a region full of murderous idiots in a specific period of time where a great many murderous idiots were being murderous. I'd think it's pretty difficult to know exactly "why" idiots do this stuff .

Failure to understand the inner most thoughts of "why" a murderous idiot is a murderous idiot and speculating on the cause is hardly "scandalous" ... especially when one corrects that speculation after further investigation and fact gathering .
