Explorer, I'm sorry but I fail to see the correlation between an EATS outing which is purely a social function encompassing those of all faiths and or those with no particular faiths and a church sponsored, religion based function with an obvious religious agenda. This is not a function at which I would feel welcomed and my faith acknowledged or validated, as one would and should expect in a religious setting. My husband and I have been together 45 years, married 43 of them and I don't think we need a seminar to teach us how to do it right. Our time together is rapidly drawing to a close, much, much too soon and your live music, hilarious skits and great food can contribute nothing to the precious little time we have left together. It is highly doubtful I would get any benefit from your Married Life Live program, especially attending alone.
I don't quite understand what you think is the big deal you referred to. You asked about non-alcoholic events or kid friendly gatherings and I gave you a sincere answer. We chose SLP as our Queen because we knew no one would give as much to us as she would. She won't tailor the event for any one person. If she chooses one day to make our event at a seafood only restaurant it will for me to decide whether to attend or not and not for her to change the location to one that suits me. Intuit is right about one thing, I would never let you fall off that wagon. I'm only asking you to dine with me and my friends, no agenda allowed. You're asking me and my friends to take part in something that may or may not conflict with our religious beliefs, agendas all over the place! I cannot accept your invitation to your event--it is not meant for me and my faith would not be accepted, say what you will. I do not want to change your eating habits, you do want to change my belief system. Thank you for the invitation but--no thanks. However if you ever form a group for the sole purpose of dining in totally alcohol free restaurants I'd love to join you you for a meal, no pride, no politics and no religious discussion and you'll surely excuse me if I say my own premeal prayer (or not) rather than join in yours.
